Fun Facts About Our Live Collection

Eastern Box Turtle
- The Eastern Box Turtle is the only type of turtles that can go completely into their shell and shut it up tightly.
- The underside of the male's shell has a shallow dent in it, while the female's shell is quite flat--this is the easiest and most accurate way to determine the sex of these turtles.
- Turtles love to sit on rocks and bask in the warmth of the sun because they are cold-blooded; the warmth of the sun helps raise their body temperature.
