National Science Content Standards
Discovery Creek Children's Museum's School Programs correlate with the following National Science Content Standards:
(ESS) Earth and Space Science: Properties of earth materials;
objects in the sky; changes in the earth and sky (K-4); structure of the earth
system; earth's history (5-6).
(LS) Life Science: Characteristics of organisms, life cycles
of organisms; organisms and environments (K-4); structure and function in living
systems, regulation and behavior, populations and ecosystems, diversity and
adaptations of organisms (5-6).
(PS) Physical Science: Properties of objects and materials,
light, heat, and electricity (K-4); transfer of energy (5-6).
(SI) Science as Inquiry: Ask questions about objects, organisms,
and events in the environment; plan and conduct a simple investigation; employ
simple equipment and tools to gather data (K-4); design and conduct a scientific
investigation; use appropriate tools and techniques to gather, analyze, and
interpret data; think critically and logically to make relationships between
evidence and explanations (5-6).
(SP) Science in Personal and Social Perspectives: Types of
resources; changes in environments; science and technology in local challenges
(K-4); populations, resources, and environments; natural hazards, risks and
benefits (5-6).
(ST) Science and Technology: Abilities of technological design;
abilities to distinguish between natural objects and objects made by humans
(5-6).
